I'm following along with this post trying to receive sensor events on Android:

I'm running on a Nexus 7. I hit the first roadblock when it turned out that Android 4.2.1 has a bug that prevents this whole thing from working, and that's what I was running on the N7. I've subsequently upgraded to 4.3 and it's working a little better, but not great.
As it stands right now, I can receive connected/disconnected events, but that's it. Nothing else shows up in the app. The headset seems to work fine with the device otherwise (pairs, connects, plays audio), but I don't get any other events no matter how much I mash on buttons or change audio. I'm running the sample code from that article verbatim, but it just won't go. Unfortunately, I'm at a loss as to how to proceed from here, because there doesn't seem to be any info available about just what is going wrong, simply things aren't happening that should be. Clearly the events are working to some degree since I get connected/disconnected, but nothing else is working.
Any advice anyone might have would be appreciated.
